Yorkshire new Hollywood!
With various film productions being made in Yorkshire past few years it seems the County is obtaining a reputation for good quality locations. Recently programes such a Black Work ,Jericho and A Monster Calls have been filmed here. This year so far two more are added to the growing list Sheridan Smith in a dramatization of Shannon Matthews abduction called Moorside Project and Robbie Coltrane with Julie Walters in a drama about Yew Tree investigation called National treasure.

Taylor Swift.
Taylor Swift hit headlines in June during her recent tour for her outrageous demands in photographer contracts. Basically everyone who wanted to shoot her gigs had to assign copyright to her! Maybe this was why venues had strict security in place, with Ipads and tablets being forbidden to be brought into her shows.Fans could use phones only to take pictures!! Yeah you pay upwards of £75 for a good seat and then cant get a good photo of your idol ,cool eh?
So anyway, photographers could only take photos for one publication during first two songs, and that was it,no syndicating via picture agencies,no re use of picture in the publication.
Hearing of this I purchased a ticket sneaked in a smaller camera than normal and took photos during the whole gig!! No contract signed no restrictions, no handing over copyright to a multi millionairess.

Hollyood hills are in Yorkshire
Well not exactly but a lot of TV dramas and films are being filmed in Yorkshire,of late, which is good for the economy! London is apparently too expensive for some productions.
2014 has seen Get Santa,Remember Me, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell and most recently Dad's Army have been filmed in the county.
Here are soem shots from a few of those productions.

From There to Here
BBC were in Manchester last week filming for a new 3 part drama based on the IRA bomb that caused destruction in the city in 1996.Filming in the Northern Quarter area, place where most films and dramas are made in the City. Realistic damage complete with ash floating in the air ,fire and rubble, being there it was very realistic.
Cast were Philip Glenister and Liz White from Life on Mars plus Bernard Hill and Steven Mackintosh.

Floody Hell!
The weird weather in my last entry continued into July with floods in many parts of UK! The small town of Hebden Bridge saw the worst of it ,after flooding 3 times! I went there on the third occasion, with many roads blaocked into the town it was a journey on foot for the last mile.

A kind of magic
Something a little different for this blog entry.,a shoot with illusion act High Jinx. Comprised of Michael and Tamsyn.
I've known Michael for quite a while and this is the second set of publicty stills Ive done for his act, this time with new assistant Tamsyn. You-dear reader-may have seen them on ITV show Penn and Teller "Fool Us", I did and was suprised as I didnt knnow they were going to be on!
Most magicians PR shots are cheesy and boring ,so I try to inject some creativity into High Jinx's shoot. This was shot without flash to get the shadow effect.
I make them perform their acts almost,in the lock up where they store their props.Makes things less static.
The monster eyes were a little sensitive to my lights so we had to work quick on this shot ;)
Fire shots are always tricky, especially when Michael has to wait for photographer to neatly frame a shot whilst his tongue burns! Thanks Michael lol.
So hopefully when they are headlining Las Vegas they'll hire me to be their in house photog! Until then they
are doing a Summer season in Blackpool this year haha, check their website link at top of this blog.
