Hollyood hills are in Yorkshire

Well not exactly but a lot of TV dramas and films are being filmed in Yorkshire,of late,which is good for the economy! London is apparently too expensive for some productions.
2014 has seen Get Santa,Remember Me, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell and most recently Dad's Army have been filmed in the county.

From There to Here

BBC were in Manchester last week filming for a new 3 part drama based on the IRA bomb that caused destruction in the city in 1996.Filming in the Northern Quarter area,place where most films and dramas are made in the City. Realistic damage complete with ash floating in the air ,fire and rubble,being there it was very realistic.
Cast were Philip Glenister and Liz White from Life on Mars plus Bernard Hill and Steven Mackintosh.

Death Comes to Pemberly-via Yorkshire

Photographs from set of new costume Drama to air at Christmas "Death Comes To Pemberly" starring Doctor Who assistant Jenna Louise Coleman,Matthew Rhys and other luvvies. Crew took over St Williams College in York and transformed it into 19th Century England. Jenna Louise Coleman was on a break from filming Dr Who(which is in the headlines itself) as they announce the 12th Doctor to be cast. Filming continue in the region for a week until Jenna returns to space travel.

Manchester United League Champions Parade

The end of football season,and the end of Alex Ferguson's managerial career and possibly the end of Wayne Rooney's time at Man Utd. The City of Manchester turned back to red this year after Man city's win of title last year as thousands of fans blocked the streets and roads to witness the parade.

Grand National

After months of cold and snow the sun finally shone,in time for Grand National race at Aintree.The obligatory turn out of WAGS perma tanned scouse girls and football mangers were amongst 80,000 attendees.
Katherine Jenkins sang half of the National Anthem(!) demanded she wasnt photographed walking only singing and the winning jockey Ryan Mania looked as if he'd been told his house had burnt down,photographers had to ask him to punch the air!

Floody Hell!

The weird weather in my last entry continued into July with floods in many  parts of UK! The small town of Hebden Bridge saw the worst of it ,after flooding 3 times! I went there on the third occasion,with many roads blaocked into the town it was a journey on foot for the last mile.
